Fardings went back in time to 1939. It was Evacuation Day! Our parents waved us off as we set off for the countryside. We recovered from our journey with a jam sandwich and a drink of squash before the billeting officer assigned us to new homes. We then wrote letters home to our parents to let them know we’d arrived safely. We learned all about the experience of evacuees and rationing during the Second World War and had fun at the same time. Well done to everyone!
