In Leylands class we cut open a pomegranate and tasted it  this afternoon, which links with a chapter in our class novel, The Boy at the Back of the Class.  The boy is a refugee from Syria and there is a chapter which describes this type of fruit and the connection that the boy feels to his homeland when he is given one by a friend. This was a great success, with  almost everyone loving the taste of this exotic experience.
