Year 5/6 - Hockey Competition

Eleven Year 5/6 children travelled to Chelmsford Hockey Club's ground at Chelmer Park on Wednesday to take part in a hockey competition. The Chelmsford School Sports Partnership hold many events like these and they give our children a great opportunity to compete in sports they might not otherwise get a chance to play. That was definitely the case this time with none of our children having any previous experience playing hockey.

Each one of them did themselves, and the school, proud. The improvements in skills, technique and understanding of the rules was amazing; from complete novices to two teams full of one-twos, mazy dribbles and outstanding saves. I was very impressed, as were the organisers, and I hope some of the children keep an interest in the sport as they showed great potential.

Thankyou to Mr Hill for his last minute dash for shinpads (!) and Mrs Vicente for looking after one of the teams while I helped the other.
